It’s the weekend: from September 27-29, you have a few days off filled with things to play. If you have something pending in your library, take advantage of it! But if not, Steam is full of really interesting new releases these days; several of which have community approval ratings above 90% and may have passed you by. You are in the right place to stay up to date with the latest in PC gaming.
Early Access Release (9/23). This game by The Astronauts (Painkiller, Bulletstorm) was originally released on Epic Games last year, but has just arrived on Steam as the exclusivity period ended. Although it’s not finished yet, it has a very promising roadmap and offers you a shooter RPG mix from the first minute.
Full Release (9/23). Believe it or not, this small and relaxing game about building castles to take beautiful screenshots has been making a lot of noise on Steam lately. You can get it for just under 15 euros and it has an impressive 96% positive reviews: players say it’s charismatic and fun, just as intended.
DLC Release (9/24). Although Remnant 2 has sold quite well compared to its predecessor, one can’t help but feel it deserves more popularity. If you want to give it a second go, now is the time: its latest DLC brings a fantastic version of N’Erud, as well as new endgame elements that are very interesting. It’s in great shape.
Echo Point Nova
Full Release (9/24). You won’t often find a first-person shooter as strange and satisfying as this one: with a 99% positive reviews on Steam, here comes an absurdly frenetic and exaggerated game where you jump to the skies, slide on walls at breakneck speeds, and… well, you get the idea. It’s called “Titanfall x DOOM x Tony Hawk” for a reason.
Early Access Release (9/24). You might remember the original as an action RPG in the style of The Witcher, but the sequel has changed a lot and its creators are now trying something more tactical and slow-paced along the lines of the classic Dragon Age games. Those who have tried it say it’s still a bit rough around the edges, but if the experiment catches your eye, you know they are looking for feedback.
Early Access Release (9/24). A group of artists with little background in game design come together to create something experimental, immersive, and haunting that can only materialize when you don’t worry about selling few copies. In a dark and cruel battlefield, you are a simple scavenger who moves between the trenches to loot the soldiers’ bodies and gather water and metals to sell. Green, but with soul.
Early Access Release (9/26). Remember the auto-battlers? They haven’t gone anywhere, and this one in particular is one that strategy fans have been keeping an eye on for a while. Version 1.0 is now here with a nice list of updates, and its fans are quite happy with the final result. It would be great to see it reach a wider audience.
Early Access Release (9/26). An action RPG with roguelite progression that has been simmering for a year. Red Riding Hood, Aladdin, and other fairy tale characters team up to cleanse the world of a Lovecraftian evil; although their goal is not so much to tell you a story but to offer you something fun to do against the clock. The big bad arrives at a certain point in the game, it’s up to you to improve yourself and make the most of your time to rise to the challenge.
Full Release (9/26). Will Amazon be able to replicate the success they had adapting Lost Ark for the Western audience? It’s a mystery, but the play is the same: a Korean studio (NCSoft) wants to bring its MMORPG to Europe and America with the help of a third party, who in turn modifies certain aspects to ensure success. There were a lot of people waiting for Throne and Liberty, and what I’ve played so far hasn’t disappointed me at all: let’s see if they get lucky.
