It’s been over five years since the end of The Big Bang Theory, and since then both Warner Bros. and CBS (its broadcasting channel in the U.S.) have not stopped exploring its world. They created a successful prequel, Young Sheldon, which will soon debut a spin-off, but now the plan for the owners of Batman and Superman is to go back directly to the original series, more or less.
According to reports from various specialized media outlets, Warner Bros. is advancing in the development of a new sitcom starring three characters from the original show, and we are not talking about its main protagonists, but rather a spin-off where we would follow the footsteps of Stuart Bloom, the owner of the comic book store where Sheldon, Leonard, and company spent many moments.
A series about Stuart… and the geologist
In this solo adventure, he would be accompanied by Denise, his partner and also a worker at the establishment, and Ben Kibbler, the endearing geologist. Brian Posehn, Lauren Lapkus, and Kevin Sussman, the actors who portrayed them in The Big Bang Theory, are ready to reprise their roles, although the spin-off has not yet been greenlit by Max, who confirmed its interest in developing a new comedy based on its world a year and a half ago.
The Big Bang Theory continues to be one of Warner Bros.’ most successful IPs, consistently ranking among the most-watched content on Max. Additionally, Young Sheldon managed to extend successfully for seven seasons, something atypical for a family comedy in these recent years of so many ups and downs in television.
Creating a comedy centered on Stuart, we understand, would have the appeal of the opportunity to see some of the original characters from the show, although nothing has been said so far that allows us to confirm that. You can watch all 12 original seasons of The Big Bang Theory directly on Max here.
