Ubisoft CEO Addresses “Polarizing Comments” on Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Clarifies “Goal is not to push any specific agenda” – Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Published:

There have been many developments with Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and it hasn’t even been released yet. Ubisoft delayed the release of its open world game by three months, it will now launch on February 14 and the company really wants to ensure a flawless release, unlike Star Wars Outlaws. However, there have been a series of events that have disturbed the atmosphere and not benefited Ubisoft in any way.

Some of these controversies are related to the representation of Yasuke, a real-life black samurai, although there has also been discussion regarding the representation of Japan. Regarding the protagonist of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, some users have accused the company of forcing the representation of minorities, which is seen as promoting an agenda or political discourse. The situation escalated to the point where even Elon Musk criticized this and more users joined this movement.

However, the CEO of Ubisoft debunked in the latest conference call (via Gamesradar) that the company is focused on promoting a specific agenda. “Let me address some of the polarized comments about Ubisoft recently. I want to reaffirm that we are a company that prioritizes entertainment, creating games for the widest possible audience, and our goal is not to push any specific agenda. We remain committed to creating games for fans and players that everyone can enjoy,” he revealed.

The first expansion of Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be free

Just yesterday we reported that one of the good news about the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows is that Ubisoft will give away the first expansion of its open world game. The reason for this is also related to the company moving away from the traditional Season Pass model, as well as their big releases debuting on Steam from now on, something they only did months after the initial release. That’s why Star Wars Outlaws will arrive on the Valve store on November 21, the same date a major update and its first story expansion will be released.
