When it comes to getting a new gaming rig, most players have historically favored desktop setups over laptops. Unless, of course, portability was a key factor. And the reason for this was simple: all things being equal, a desktop PC was always cheaper than its laptop counterpart.

However, in recent times, the situation has changed to the point where laptops can now be even cheaper than desktop PCs, with identical hardware. This is especially true when you consider that a laptop includes all peripherals (keyboard, mouse, screen, speakers…) that you would have to buy separately for a desktop. This Lenovo (available on Amazon for 877.71 euros) is a prime example of this shift.
Choosing one model over the other is not something that can be done generically, as prices and stock fluctuate daily across different stores. However, if I had to recommend a top gaming setup for stable 60 FPS gameplay without complications and at the lowest possible price, it would be this Lenovo LOG Gen 8. First, because of its price. But secondly, because of its hardware.
For less than 900 euros, you get the combined power of a NVIDIA RTX 4060, an Intel Core i5-12450H, 16 GB of RAM, and 512 GB of SSD. Hardware very similar to my current gaming laptop, but costing about 400 euros less than what I paid for my Lenovo Legion at the time.
A 15.6-inch 1080p resolution screen (which translates to great pixel density and sharpness) with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a discreet design that fits well in any environment, is the cherry on top of this cake.
