They swept away the Elden Ring DLC, but Bandai expects more profits thanks to a Japanese idols game and a mecha movie – Elden Ring

Anyone could think that with Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, Bandai Namco could sit back and relax because their fiscal year will close positively. However, while it is true that the RPG and the fighting game have greatly increased their coffers, the Japanese giant hopes to end the year even better thanks to a mecha film and a Japanese idols video game.

According to Bandai Namco Holdings, the company expects a significant increase in revenues and sales in all its sectors, surpassing the results of the same period last year, for the period ending on March 30, 2025. As we have mentioned, one of the highlights of the report is the success of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which reached five million copies sold in just three days after its launch, also becoming one of the big projects of the year.

However, the company also reports good results in its mobile applications, highlighting the success of Gakuen Idolmaster, launched in May, which combines elements of role-playing and strategy in the style of Slay the Spire. These titles reflect the strength of Bandai Namco’s digital business and its ability to maintain the interest of Japanese players.

Bandai Namco’s production business has also benefited from cinematic successes. The film Mobile Suit Gundam SEED FREEDOM grossed 1.060 billion yen (about 6.3 million euros at the exchange rate) in its first weekend in Japan, and will be screened in more than 50 countries, providing an additional source of income. This success has contributed to the diversification of Bandai Namco, generating additional revenues outside of video games and toys.

As a result of these successes, Bandai Namco has raised its net sales forecast by 9.9%, reaching 610 billion yen. Operating profit is expected to rise by 36% to 112 billion yen, and the annual sales projection is now estimated at 1.15 trillion yen, an increase of 6.5% compared to the previous forecast. Despite losses in segments such as Bandai Namco Online, highlighted by the failure of Blue Protocol, the company remains in a solid financial position thanks to the exceptional performance of several key products.

FromSoftware will increase the salary of its employees

Another group that has been deeply benefited by the success of Shadow of the Erdtree are its creators. Therefore, FromSoftware, as announced by the top management in September, will increase the salary of its employees by 11% to “thank them for their efforts” with a monetary compensation that promotes a more competitive and dedicated culture.
