We also miss Sam Fisher, the protagonist of Ubisoft’s espionage and stealth saga. While we wait for news about the Splinter Cell remake, this first glimpse of the production will excite many fans. Years ago, it was announced that Netflix was working on an animated series based on Splinter Cell, one of Ubisoft’s forgotten and most significant sagas. Finally, there is good news about its return.
At Geeked Week 2024, a first glimpse of the Netflix Splinter Cell animated series was shown to the public with the promise of it “coming soon”, indicating that it may not be in 2024 or early 2025 given the lack of updates. We now know the full name of the show and the actor: Liev Schreiber will play Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell: Deathwatch. Additionally, the actor’s words are mysterious, and we can already see him with his night vision goggles.
“Darkness is a good thing. Once you get used to the shadows, you see the bad people for who they really are. And they will never see you coming for them,” says the stealth specialist in the video. There are more interesting details you should know. It was previously mentioned that the series was being written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad, who also serves as an executive producer. According to Variety, the series is co-directed by Guillaume Dousse and Félicien Colmet-Daage.
More details about the Splinter Cell animated series
As executive producers, we have Helene Juguet, Hugo Revon, and Gerard Guillemot from Ubisoft Film & Television. The animation studios in charge are Sun Creature (The Reward: Tales of Alethrion) and Fost. Netflix states on its official website that “Splinter Cell follows Fisher, a covert operations agent working for a division of the U.S. government”. It is unknown if it is related to the game’s storyline or if it is part of a different timeline. We see an older Sam Fisher, but we will have to wait several months to find out.
