During the peak of the Galaxy S24 line from Samsung, rumors are already emerging about the future successor of the device. Although the South Korean company has not officially acknowledged the existence of the smartphone, it is assumed that it will be presented at the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025 for sale in January 2025. And, as a result, we are starting to learn many leaked details about it.
As Android Authority indicates in a recent publication, one of the most relevant rumors is related to the charging of the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the rest of the series. Apparently, this leak is related to a 3C certification from China for the Galaxy S25 (SM-S9310) and Galaxy S25 Plus (SM-S9360) models. In addition to the charging speed of these devices, there is also some disappointing news for users – neither of the two basic models will come with a charging adapter in the box.
A slower charge than its competitors
As mentioned in the original news, the Galaxy S25 Plus will support a maximum charging of 45 W (15V/3A), while the base model will have a maximum charging speed of 25 W (9V/2.7A). Therefore, the charging speed of the base model will remain the same as the Galaxy S20 launched in 2020, indicating no advancement by the South Korean company in the last five years. Additionally, the charging speed of the Plus model will be much slower compared to other competing phones like the OnePlus 12 (80 – 100 W), Nothing Phone 2 (45 W), or Motorola Edge 2024 (68 W).
Despite the fast charging technology, the Galaxy S25 will take more than an hour to fully charge its 4,000 mAh battery. It seems that the battery will be similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24. Furthermore, there is not a significant improvement expected in the hardware, as the Galaxy S25 is likely to have the same rear cameras as the previous model. Overall, we might be looking at a device with few important upgrades.
