One of the craziest cameos in Saw was from the singer of Linkin Park. Watch for Chester Bennington in one of the toughest challenges at minute 18 of this film from the franchise.

Linkin Park is once again in the spotlight thanks to the announcement of Emily Armstrong as the new vocalist of the group, with songs like “The Emptiness Machine” or “Heavy is the Crown,” the new anthem of the League of Legends world championships. However, many cannot help but look back and remember the beloved Chester Bennington, who left us in 2017, leaving a void in the hearts of fans. What many may not recall is his participation in the Saw franchise, specifically in Saw 3D, where we saw him facing one of the most explicit tests in the film. Did he manage to escape Jigsaw?

Despite being released as “Saw 3D: The Final Chapter” to capitalize on the phenomenon that occurred in the late 2000s, the film is commonly known as “Saw 7”, concluding the main film series centered around the character of John Kramer. While other titles like “Spiral,” “Jigsaw,” or “Saw X” have been released later on (some bringing back the character), they can be seen as secondary works within the franchise.

Within this array of works, cameos are not usually very common. Therefore, Chester Bennington’s cameo was one of the most significant. Seeing the lead singer of Linkin Park as part of a Jigsaw test was a detail that was greatly appreciated by fans of the group and the movies. Although it might seem random, rock and the Saw franchise have always been closely linked, even featuring songs like “I.V” from the group X Japan on their soundtrack.

This cameo came about because the musician was a big fan of the franchise. In fact, he himself suggested the tortures for his character. In the test, Chester’s character, Evan, had to reach the car’s accelerator to save his friends and girlfriend from a terrible death, but his skin was glued to the seat (his own idea), so if he wanted to succeed, he had to tear off the area of his back stuck to the seat. All of this can be seen from minute 18 of the film. Whether he succeeded or not is something we leave in the air in case someone did not know or remember this appearance and feels curious to see it.

What we can tell you are Chester’s own statements regarding the movie’s release. “I met the producer of the films because he was a neighbor of one of my bandmates,” he began to explain. “When we told him we were fans and if we could participate in one of the movies, his response was obviously yes”. “It is one of the most elaborate traps to date and something like that had not been done. Generally, Jigsaw’s traps were for one person,” Chester commented, and while movies like Saw focus more on collaboration, seeing traps that include more than two individuals simultaneously was not so common, with the exception of the beginning of this very film. And, if it wasn’t the most innovative, at least it was the most intense.
