Naruto celebrates the birthday of a character who gave us one of the best battles in Shippuden, even though no one remembers it.

Nowadays, with the view set on a finished work, it is very easy to list the best fights of Naruto Shippuden and undoubtedly, the first place would be for the famous Naruto vs Pain. However, if we go back to 2007 and feel a bit nostalgic, we can remember one of the best confrontations that an audience waiting for the return of the series for a long time could imagine. Yes, indeed, we are talking about Chiyo and Sakura against Sasori, the first great battle of Shippuden that left us all amazed and, since the official account wanted to remember the birthday of the elderly jonin, what better time to relive it?

The first great arc of Naruto Shippuden

Naruto Shippuden has provided us with a handful of epic fights along the way. Sasuke vs Itachi, Naruto vs Pain, Sasuke vs Naruto, Shikamaru against Hidan… The list is long. However, from the perspective of those who were lucky enough to experience the series during its original airing, the first battles against Akatsuki were a spectacle.

To understand how this moment was, we have to go back to around 2005-2006, a time when Naruto ended with a very devastating conclusion. So much so that even the audience decided to endure the subsequent filler episodes just to make the wait less harsh. This filler content was almost the same length as the original series, which made the wait to find out how Masashi Kishimoto’s work continued, exhausting.

The filler content of Naruto had some worthwhile episodes

But in August 2007, Naruto returned, a bit older and more powerful, and the excitement to see all the characters grown up was overwhelming. This is how a first season that stayed engraved in the minds of viewers started under the opening “Heros Come Back.” While the initial episodes were pure nostalgia and a display of new techniques, the first major mission took place in the Village of the Sand with the kidnapping of Gaara. Akatsuki returned to make their presence known, but this time, they were there to stay.

Thus, Deidara and Sasori stole the spotlight in their roles as villains, and while we saw Kakashi dealing with the explosives lover, Sakura, one of the most hated characters in Naruto, had her first major moment of glory (if we don’t count her fight against Ino) to prove her worth. And she did, but she wouldn’t have been able to do it without Chiyo’s intervention.

Chiyo-sama was a powerful retired jonin from the village who was forced to return to the battlefield to save Gaara, but also to confront her grandson, Sasori. Both puppeteers, the confrontation was very tense. If you recall, you might even remember the noise the puppets made as they moved. And in this duel, Sakura also played her part, especially thanks to her healing powers, but she wouldn’t have been able to avoid much of the poison if she hadn’t transformed herself into a puppet.

We won’t delve into all the details of this epic confrontation, you can always revisit them on streaming platforms, but there’s one detail that the audience usually forgets: Chiyo was able to bring Gaara back to life. And no, not through some kind of zombie, but in flesh and blood.

Chiyo was a powerful character, sometimes forgotten, who met a dignified death, although as happened with everyone, he returned during the Fourth Ninja War. But we can overlook that if you want.
