Although it won’t help you find your grandmother’s house or that game you lent years ago and never got back, this map of movies and TV shows can be just as useful for satisfying your curiosity or, for example, planning a trip where you visit the locations of your favorite movie or series. For example, I didn’t know that a Spider-Man sequence had been filmed relatively close to where I live.
The interactive map of movie and TV show locations
It’s called Cinemapper, and it is an interactive map where you can explore a world map that details where Marvel movies, Star Wars movies, or even the most iconic locations from series like Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon were filmed. All you have to do is allow your location to be detected and start exploring.
With a rich database organized by small icons that make it much easier to recognize which production company or iconic saga was filmed in each place in the world, it also allows you to search for movies or series to mark only the locations of that specific film. For example, you can visit the resting place of Logan in Deadpool and Wolverine, and jump to Google Maps to get the exact location so you can travel there.
Being a relatively new map that works thanks to community collaboration, it is true that many of the old movies that were filmed (in Almería, for example, the map should be full of icons) are missing and it focuses on new productions, but it helps that you can lend a hand in continuing to grow it and, as a bonus, it has some interesting locations that also show you in which areas several video games were inspired for their adventures.
