“I don’t understand how you can wish for a company to fail.” Ubisoft executive fed up with the hate and demands common sense from many players – Assassin’s Creed Shadows

Published:

If you follow Ubisoft news closely, you will know that the French company is not in its best moment. Just look at the price of its shares, which were at their lowest value in the last 10 years. However, the supposed interest of Tencent in buying Ubisoft has stirred the hornet’s nest and investors are attentive to possible movements by the Chinese giant.

However, any minimal statement from Ubisoft generates noise and debate on social media, something that has led one of its main executives to publish a message that he later deleted on LinkedIn. All this happens after the delay of Assassin’s Creed Shadows and the poor sales performance of Star Wars Outlaws, so the situation is not the most ideal and there are players who only contribute to hate, harass, discriminate, and create a toxic environment in a company where thousands of developers work who simply do their job and have little to do with controversies far from video games.

The common sense message from the Ubisoft executive

In this sense, Stevy Chassard has published the following message (via TweakTown) criticizing some toxic gamers and asking for a little cordiality to help developers do their job: “The video game industry is tough right now, we all know that. But seeing how ‘players’ react on social media, wishing ill on companies and individuals alike, is sad. (And not only towards Ubisoft, although it is always the noisy minority that expresses themselves on social media. It hurt and embarrassed me to be part of this community),” he begins.

“What is even more disgusting is to enter Linkedin and see the same comments from people within the industry. In addition to exposing yourself as a clearly indecent human being, you are affecting thousands of employees who are already impacted by all the hatred despite doing everything possible to offer incredible experiences. I don’t understand how you can wish for a company to fail just because you don’t like the products, it’s something that surpasses me. We are all in the same boat, please, please, stop spreading hate, we should all support each other instead of sinking,” concludes the Ubisoft executive.
