Former Employee of Halo Infinite Blames Microsoft’s Policies for the “Decline in Quality” of the Science Fiction Shooter – Halo Infinite

It has been almost three years since the release of Halo Infinite, and since then the science fiction shooter from 343 Industries has had some issues in its development and even after the game was launched. Early last year, Phil Spencer acknowledged that “there are some mistakes we made as a team” in Halo Infinite, but also made it clear that the development team, 343 Industries, is “of vital importance for the long-term success of the franchise.”

Despite all this, in the past few hours, a comment from Briggs William Crane, a former quality control worker at 343 Industries, appeared in a YouTube video talking about what had happened with the campaign of Halo Infinite. The former studio employee directly blames Microsoft for their hiring policies, even claiming that these are the main reason why their own games have seen a decrease in quality. He also comments that the talent drain from Xbox is an aspect that needs to be reviewed, as these employees are being picked up by other studios.

Microsoft’s hiring policies are, by themselves, one of the biggest issues that Halo faces. Can you imagine how difficult it is to do your best work knowing that you will be let go in 18 months and there’s nothing you can do about it? Furthermore, that forces people to leave through the back door just when they are fully trained and competent in their positions. All this just so they can easily afford to fire employees when it suits Microsoft executives,” he says (via MP1ST) Crane, who currently works full-time at Epic Games, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“A SIGNIFICANT part of the 343 Industries staff is made up of hired workers (including the entire former team of Halo The Master Chief Collection). The self-inflicted talent drain is maddening to see, and is (in my opinion) the reason why most Microsoft exclusives are seeing a decline in quality. They have created a business environment where the talent they should be trying to nurture is pushed out and then picked up by other studios,” he concludes.
