Adding to everything that Disney already owns, from Marvel to Star Wars, from Disneyland to their cruises, they are now venturing into another business – creating a city of super luxury for billionaires in the middle of the desert. And no, it’s not just an idea being considered, they have already started construction and the first houses will be delivered starting next year.
In a 250-hectare area of Rancho Mirage, a city halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego bordering the Mojave Desert, what is known as Cotino Bay will be located, an urban complex based on the Disney universe with over 1,900 homes, landscaped areas, and a large artificial lagoon. The cost? Only affordable for the wealthiest and most discerning.
The new Disney city
Aimed at billionaires, and those retirees for whom Florida is starting to feel outdated and small, in 2025 Disney will begin delivering the first batch of houses in the area with prices that can exceed two million euros. However, real estate is far from the only business Disney plans to exploit in Cotino Bay.
The key lies not only in the concept of offering private artificial beaches for select groups, but also in a membership where, by joining a Storyliving club, community members can enjoy Disney experiences, special excursions, health programs, and activities related to nutrition and wellness.
A kind of premium program sponsored by the team of Imagineers responsible for shaping the attractions, decor, and events at Disney theme parks, and now, besides entertaining families with children, will also cater to seniors who join the project.
