Depending on which camera you use, the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3 will be more or less difficult. Choose wisely because you won’t be able to change it whenever you want – Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Published:

Although there have been many remakes in the last ten years, one of the strangest, both for starting with an intermediate installment and for the absence of its original creator in the project, is that of Metal Gear Solid 3. The new version of the classic in the series, which will arrive under the name of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, does not have a release date yet, but that hasn’t stopped Konami from continuing to provide surprises, such as the news that the new third-person camera version will affect gameplay and difficulty.

In a recent interview with Famitsu (translated by Automaton), Noriaki Okamura, production producer, and Yuji Korekado, creative producer, discussed the improvements and additions that the remake will bring compared to the original 2004 title. Among them, the introduction of a “New Style” of camera stands out, reminiscent of the third-person mode introduced in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence, but with the camera much closer to Snake’s shoulder.

You can only choose once which camera you want to play the remake with

We won’t be “condemned” to use this new style if we don’t want to, as we will be able to choose between this new mode or the one known as “Legacy Style”. The latter has been adapted for modern times, but maintains the more distant perspective of the 2004 game. However, it is important to note that the decision we make cannot be changed during the game, as we can only choose between one of the two modes at the beginning of the game, preventing switching between perspectives once started.

The reason for not allowing perspective changes during the game is related to difficulty. According to Korekado, the “New Style” makes the game easier by offering a greater field of view and the ability to shoot while moving, which reduces the challenge. Additionally, improvements in artificial intelligence and Snake’s response to controls make the game more accessible.

On the other hand, the “Legacy Style” will be more aligned with the difficulty of the original game, offering more experienced players the opportunity to relive the challenge of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. However, while this classic perspective will benefit from the remake’s improvements, some adjustments will not be available in both modes, making the classic perspective offer a more difficult and challenging experience, but also more deliberate and tactical.
