It was one of the most surprising launches of the year and wants to continue expanding its success. After selling more than two million copies, the creator of Balatro has confirmed that the video game will make the leap to mobile devices to become even more accessible and be literally on all current platforms. Although the announcement may be a bit scary considering the monetization schemes that iOS and Android have accustomed us to, this version for phones will be identical to the original.
Balatro will be on all platforms
The release of Balatro on mobile devices will take place on September 26 and will appear in the Apple or Google stores as a premium single payment game available at 9.99 euros. In this sense, the price will be slightly lower than on the rest of the platforms to adapt to the reality of these types of devices. As an additional note, it should be noted that Apple Arcade subscribers will be able to enjoy the game at no additional cost.
The accessibility to the game has always seemed to be one of the main concerns of the Balatro creator and with this release the game will be available on PC, macOS, iOS, Android, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series. In addition, it is verified on Steam Deck and can be played on Linux. Not bad for a game that, in addition to commercial success, has captivated users. On Steam it has a 97% positive votes after more than 40,000 reviews and on Metacritic it has a score of 90.
This is the third of three major announcements that the Balatro creator had promised to make during this summer. In this sense, it had been previously revealed that the game would receive a major gameplay update in 2025 and the arrival of a collaboration with four major video games. We will have to stay tuned to the game to see if LocalThunk, the developer of the game, surprises us with anything else.
