Although the official version of Amazon is that they are very happy with The Rings of Power, it also seems evident that the company knows that there are quite a few viewers who are hoping to see an improvement in the series, especially in everything related to the story’s script. That’s why, a few days ago, several new writers were revealed for the third season.
A writer from The Crown among the new hires
As reported by WinterIsComing (via THR), JD Payne and Patrick McKay, showrunners of the fantasy drama based on the world of The Lord of the Rings, have assembled a nearly unknown team of writers for their upcoming episodes. This team includes Ben Tagoe, Ava Wong Davies, Constance Cheng, Jonathan Wilson, Griff Jones, Sarah Anson, and Justin Doble, with the latter being a veteran. Among them, the name of Jonathan Wilson may stand out, as he is credited in at least 33 episodes of the successful Netflix series, The Crown.
Gennifer Hutchison, Jason Cahill, Stephany Folsom, Nicholas Adams, Helen Shang, Glenise Mullins, and Nicholas Adams, who contributed to the scripts of the first two seasons, are no longer mentioned.

No more names have been revealed at the moment, and we also don’t have a clear idea of when the filming of the third season of the show will begin. However, if they follow the same timeline as with the second season, it is expected that filming could start in early 2025. If so, the series should premiere its next episodes by mid-2026.
From the very beginning, The Rings of Power has had to deal with a completely divided audience. Many have criticized various controversial creative decisions regarding Tolkien’s original work, others are dissatisfied with the casting choices, and some simply do not see the narrative ambition that was expected from such an expensive series. Can the latter group be persuaded to change their minds?
