Currently, few brands come close to the importance of Apple and Samsung in the smartphone market. Thanks to iPhones and Galaxy devices, both companies have become the flagship of an industry that generates billions of euros each year. As a result, other companies like Xiaomi, Huawei, and OPPO are seeking ways to gain ground to make it to the list of the best-selling smartphones of the year.
As indicated by the Android Authority portal in a recent publication, this distinction usually belongs entirely to these two brands. However, occasionally a device that is not released by Apple or Samsung also makes it to the top sellers list. Therefore, even though once again both brands were the absolute queens of the list of best-selling phones in the first 6 months of 2024, we must make a special mention of the successful Redmi 13C by Xiaomi, the only one capable of competing against the two industry titans.
The top 10 best-selling phones of 2024
As usual, the top positions belong to Apple, as the company founded by Steve Jobs managed to place the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the iPhone 15 at the top of the best-sellers list. Following them is the Samsung Galaxy A15 4G, the best-selling Android phone in the first half of 2024 and one of the two Samsung devices in the top 5. In fact, this device and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra achieved a historic milestone: the presence of two Android phones among the top five best-selling phones for the first time since 2020.
So, the complete list of the 10 best-selling devices in the first 6 months of 2024 is as follows:
- iPhone 15 Pro Max
- iPhone 15
- Samsung Galaxy A15 4G
- iPhone 15 Pro
- Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
- iPhone 13
- Samsung Galaxy A15 5G
- Xiaomi Redmi 13C
- iPhone 14
- Samsung Galaxy A05
On an additional note, it is striking that the iPhone 13, a phone launched in 2021, is ahead of the iPhone 14, the device that Apple introduced in 2022. Additionally, the dominance of the American brand is confirmed once again, as it has 5 devices among the top 10 best-sellers, a number that surpasses Samsung (4 out of 10) and Xiaomi (1 out of 10). Therefore, despite falling short of expectations, Apple continues to dominate the market with an iron grip.
