Fernando Alonso saw the logo of a fantasy RPG in his rearview mirror all weekend that is coming in October – Metaphor: ReFantazio sponsored Haas in Singapore.

We still don’t know if Metaphor: ReFantazio will achieve success comparable to the Persona series of video games, like Persona 3 Reload, which set a record a few months ago, but it seems clear that Atlus believes in its potential, enough to decide to sponsor a Formula 1 team.

In this sense, the millions of viewers who follow the main world motor racing competition were able to see this weekend how the Haas cars, driven by Nico Hülkenberg (who finished just behind Fernando Alonso this Sunday) and Kevin Magnussen at the Singapore Grand Prix, displayed the logo of Metaphor: ReFantazio. Curiously, a character from the highly anticipated Japanese role-playing adventure is also named Hulkemberg.

Why is F1 a good space for Metaphor?

“Overcoming fear and anxiety is a central theme in Metaphor: ReFantazio, and appearing on the race cars of Nico Hülkenberg and Kevin Magnussen, known for challenging the impossible, perfectly reflects our game, where players overcome the odds in their quest for the crown in the Throne Tournament,” explained Atlus announcing this collaboration.

In a few days we will know if Metaphor: ReFantazio lives up to a video game signed by the creators of Persona 5. In this adventure, we travel to a new fantasy world where we must find a way to break the curse that plagues the prince whom the entire kingdom believes to be dead.

If you want to learn more, you can read colleague Iván Lerner’s impressions with Metaphor: ReFantazio which stated in his conclusions: “I am aware that I have only seen a tiny fraction of everything this video game has to offer, but that has been enough for me to have my hopes sky high.” Metaphor: ReFantazio launches in stores for PC and consoles on October 11.
