Microsoft reveals new details about Windows 11 version 24H2 and dispels all rumors of an October release

Published:

Just over a month ago, Microsoft announced that two versions of their new operating system were about to stop receiving support. The reason, as the company explained, was related to the upcoming arrival of version 24H2 of Windows 11, an option designed for users to elevate the OS experience to the next level. After the confusion caused by a post on an unofficial forum, Microsoft had to step in to address an important aspect such as the release date of the device.

As reported by the TechSpot portal in a recent publication, Microsoft stated that they have not yet revealed an official release date for version 24H2. The original post suggested that the update would be released alongside security updates on October 8. However, some users may be able to update their version from September 24 through the Windows Update settings, which is why some tech media outlets inaccurately report that this version will be available in early October.

Microsoft clarified that it won’t arrive on October 8

To address the issue, Microsoft indicated that on October 8, only the monthly service updates would be available, not the 24H2 feature update. So, even though this version has already debuted on some devices (see Surface Laptop and Surface Pro), it won’t be available to everyone in the coming weeks. Therefore, some users have been able to access the benefits of the new version of Windows 11 such as AI-driven features or the controversial Windows Recall feature that Microsoft removed due to security and privacy issues.

In addition to all this, one of the main virtues of version 24H2 of Windows 11 will be the Copilot application. However, this feature has received numerous criticisms for not being fully integrated into the system and ultimately being a wrapper of a web page. Despite the criticisms, this new version remains a highly anticipated update that will offer new features, but it is still unknown when it will be available to all users.
