China rubs its hands with an AI that uses The Witcher 3 and GTA V to create video games and accelerate development processes

Published:

The artificial intelligence has undoubtedly become one of the most important tools in the technological sector. Its reach is such that it not only influences fields such as research or the advancement of certain devices, but it has also reached video games thanks to companies like EA or NVIDIA. And, as a result, many are already looking for ways to profit from the advancements that artificial intelligence has experienced in recent months.

Generative Artificial Intelligence

As the German portal Mein-MMO indicates in a recent publication, one of the main interested parties in this possibility is Tencent, the leading Chinese gaming company. Through the GameGen-O initiative, they intend to simplify the game creation process by focusing on developing a game engine driven by AI that reduces development times. They have chosen to train their AI with some of the most representative titles in the industry.

The Witcher, GTA, and Assassin’s Creed are in the mix

Among the games mentioned in the original news are some very popular ones such as The Witcher 3, Grand Theft Auto V, or Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla. Thus, GameGen-O will allow generating characters, dynamic environments, complex plots, and in-game events, which will make it possible to accelerate the development process. In fact, this artificial intelligence could significantly reduce the resources and time needed to create projects of this kind. This could potentially shorten the cycle by several months or even a few years.

However, the most critical of artificial intelligence fear that the arrival of this technology will not only lead to automation that could result in more repetitive or generic games, but also the lack of diversity, innovation, and, above all, the loss of thousands of jobs in the industry. For those interested, the creators of the AI-based tool have published a video on YouTube with several examples developed by GameGen-O.
