There is a dark and dangerous Jedi technique that destroys rivals and has been seen used by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, and Luke Skywalker.

No one can say that Luke Skywalker is not a user of the light side of the Force from head to toe. Nor can anyone say that Obi-Wan Kenobi is not one of the most upright Jedi knights of the Order and a true paladin of its values. However, both have used a combat technique very close to the Dark Side of the Force. This skill, known as “Force Damage”, is one of the darkest and most dangerous that a Jedi can employ in the Star Wars saga.

A Dangerous Knowledge of the Force

Fans have witnessed this dangerous technique on several occasions. Force Damage is a skill related to telekinesis, which allows the user to cause internal damage to their opponent without the need for physical contact, and it is a skill very close to the Dark Side of the Force because it is not a technique of self-defense, but rather a power that inflicts damage on the opponent.

One of the most notorious examples of this technique is seen in the animated series Clone Wars by master Genndy Tartakovsky. In it, Mace Windu uses this skill against General Grievous. Windu’s demonstration is so effective that Grievous, although repairable, leaves behind the persistent cough that characterizes the villain and accompanies him until his death in the Battle of Utapau.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has also used this technique in the 3D animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In a confrontation with two separatist droids, Kenobi employs this harmful technique against two droids, never against a living being. In one of the most impactful episodes of The Mandalorian, Luke Skywalker uses this same skill against the feared Dark Troopers of Moff Gideon when Luke comes to the rescue of the protagonists in the final episode of season 2 of The Mandalorian.

This technique, so close to the Dark Side, was only taught to the highest-level Jedi masters. The reason is that the use of such power can drag less experienced Jedi towards the dark side. Like other advanced combat techniques, such as Vaapad, Force Damage was only taught to those who demonstrated great self-control and resistance to the Dark Side, like Mace Windu, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Luke Skywalker. To relive these intense moments and explore these techniques in action more deeply, we invite you to review the series and movies of the Star Wars saga available on Disney+.
