There has not been any official confirmation related to the RTX 5090 yet, but all leaks point in the same direction: NVIDIA will launch its most powerful graphics card to date. After the arrival of the RTX 4000 series and maximizing the opportunities offered by the field of artificial intelligence, NVIDIA is working hard on its new line of graphics cards. And, according to the latest rumors, it is likely that these will consume much more energy than their predecessors.
As indicated by TechSpot in a recent publication, it is rumored that the RTX 5000 series could require 600W, an increase considering the 450W of the RTX 4090. Additionally, an insider claims that the high-end GPUs of the Blackwell series will experience the greatest increase in power consumption. In the past, there were fears that the RTX 4090 would reach a consumption of 600-800W, but ultimately the models launched had modest changes compared to the RTX 3000 series.
No details on the release date
Current rumors about the TDP of the RTX 5000 series could refer to “Total Board Power” or maximum consumption, an aspect that often differs from what the vast majority of users actually experience. Additionally, it is also expected that the RTX 5090 will be up to 70% faster than the 4090, with 28GB of VRAM and a 448-bit memory bus. The 5080, on the other hand, would have a performance 10% higher than the RTX 4090 and take advantage of its 16GB of VRAM.
Except for the desktop RTX 5060, all GPUs in the RTX 5000 series are expected to feature GDDR7 memory. Furthermore, this family of graphics cards will be based on TSMC’s 5nm EUV node process. As for the presentation or launch date, it is currently unknown when the mentioned units will hit the market. However, many experts point to January 2025, the date of the next CES edition. There, as in the past, NVIDIA is likely to share updates on their upcoming releases.
