Faced with this problem, many content creators have spoken out about it, and now Ryan Wyatt, former head of the YouTube Gaming section, has also joined the conversation.
The solution of multistreaming
Let’s get straight to the point: all these voices believe that the solution to the streamers’ financial problem is multistreaming. That is, being able to stream live on multiple platforms at the same time. However, what seems quite obvious is not so when different elements come into play.
Firstly, until recently it was not a viable option, as platforms penalized those who decided to stream in two places at once. Even when signing up as an affiliate on Twitch, there was a clause that required a commitment to not stream elsewhere. In other words, if you wanted to earn money from the platform, you could only stream with it.

Secondly, many streamers were tied to a much stricter exclusivity with a specific platform due to contract issues. This has been the case for The Grefg, Vegetta, or DjMaRiiO. For this reason, streamers like Shelao decided to move to Kick, drawn by more lucrative financial promises and much looser restrictions (something that has not been fulfilled in terms of money). And finally, there were some structural complications in streaming on multiple platforms at the same time, and not everyone had the knowledge or resources to do so.
What’s interesting about this news is not only the fact that multistreaming is now allowed, but also that it has highlighted the fact that platforms are starting to encounter problems in their business models. However, streamers now have options for everything, and in the midst of the debate on social media, Ryan Wyatt has spoken out as follows: “He’s right. When Twitch relaxed its partner policy, allowing people to stream everywhere (which they did right and deserve praise for doing so), the right response was multistreaming.
