Google relies on “cutting-edge technology” to revolutionize the mobile market in 2026, but Samsung already introduced it in 2020

Google has focused much of its efforts on convincing users to switch to Google Pixel, the smartphone from the American giant. With it, they aim to compete with other brands like Samsung or Apple, as Google has not stopped investing in a differential sector. However, despite the company’s efforts, it is true that it will still have to work several years to achieve what companies like Samsung achieved in 2020.

Taiwan's historical dominance in the chip sector has led Intel and Samsung to seek a historic agreement

As noted by Android Authority in a recent publication, Google intends to include a next-generation telephoto camera with up to 100x zoom in its future Pixel 11 lineup coming in 2026. A leak suggests that the Tensor G5 chip would be responsible for supporting the 100x zoom, as it will use advanced machine learning algorithms. However, even though Google claims this addition is “next-gen“, the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra released in 2020 already had this capability.

Compatibility with 4K videos at 60 fps

In addition to the above, the original news indicates that the Tensor G5 will use different machine learning algorithms for the 100x zoom in both photos and videos, which is why it will be able to optimize results for both formats. It would also support videos in 4K at 60 fps with HDR and a cinematic blur effect. Lastly, the Night Sight technology (designed to improve night photos) would also be available for video on the Pixel 11 lineup. Therefore, capturing in low light conditions will be even better.

Thus, although Samsung introduced the 100x zoom in 2020, it is expected that Google will improve results through hardware and software synergy. And, in turn, it would also take advantage of other aspects like artificial intelligence. Therefore, the Pixel 11 lineup aims to be a revolution when it comes to photography and video recording, but one of its main novelties will not take us by surprise, as Samsung has been working on the same for the past 4 years.
