Former CD Projekt RED devs working on a strategy game inspired by Civilization, Crusader Kings, and even Heroes: Might & Magic at the same time: Liegecraft – Liegecraft

Published:

A few days ago, a new 4X strategy game for Steam was announced that, depending on the image you see, will remind you of Civilization, Crusader Kings, and even the legendary Heroes: Might & Magic 3. And you wouldn’t be wrong, as all of them have served as inspiration to the small indie Polish development team at From Chaos to enrich their gameplay. We are talking about Liegecraft.

More in detail, Liegecraft is sold in stores as the result of combining the addictive replayability of “just one more turn” from Civilization with the diplomacy and the art of ruling focused on characters that we could see in Crusader Kings 3. In other words, Liegecraft is a turn-based medieval strategy RPG where we become a medieval monarch who must expand his kingdom with the help of his vassals, as long as they are sufficiently content.

Strategy, role-playing, and character-focused immersion

Liegecraft invites us to enjoy a medieval sandbox where we experience the tribulations and victories of our land through the eyes of the lord and his vassals, each with their own traits that influence how they behave and interact with each other, which we must lead wisely, balancing their needs, granting lands, titles, and wealth to some, and banishing others, or risking their disputes ending in blood and ruin.

All this without forgetting to make the kingdom flourish by researching new technologies throughout several ages, diplomacy, and conquest with the help of massive armies in epic battles. “Saddle your horse and ride through royal forests, plot secret alliances with foreign rulers during hunts, host lavish feasts in grand castles, imprison traitors, and much more as you consolidate your reign,” add From Chaos on Steam.

Liegecraft also invites us to participate in immersive real-time events, from lavish feasts and tavern brawls to royal hunts and castle dungeon exploration, making it a strategy game with many facets. So many that it’s hard to explain without seeing it with our own eyes. Fortunately, Liegecraft will arrive on PC in early access in 2025.
