There are only a few days left before Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered is released. Players will have the opportunity to enjoy Guerrilla Games’ open-world action RPG once again. The community was surprised by the announcement of a remaster of a title that still looks very good today, but many players were impressed by the visual changes between the original and the new version, which you can see in a comparison between Horizon Zero Dawn and its remaster.
In this sense, Digital Foundry has had the opportunity to conduct a technical analysis of Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, and John Linneman has pointed out that we are facing something closer to a remake than a remaster. “The changes are significant enough that I’m not even sure that the word remaster is correct in this case. It reminds me more of the work by Bluepoint in Shadow of the Colossus and Demon’s Souls,” he says.
“It may not be as ambitious, but it is closer to that. There is a feeling that the team (Nixxes Software) carefully analyzed and made sure to basically remake the entire game to give it a modern look,” Linneman confirms (via Gamesradar). On several occasions, significant improvements can be seen, such as in the foliage, character models, water effects, or reflections. Digital Foundry also noted that it will have three performance modes (30,40, and 60 FPS) that balance visual quality and resolution.
Changes in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered
It could be said that Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered has taken the best of Horizon Forbidden West to adapt it to this remaster. That’s why we see villages with more population as the number of NPCs and variety of activities has increased, making the environment feel more alive, according to Nixxes on the PlayStation blog. Additionally, the terrain has many more details, particularly the snow with its deformable technology that has increased the density and detail of plants, with more realistic textures and complete biomes.
