There is a significant sector of users who, when opting to play on PC, prefer to build their own setup rather than buy one with everything already installed. Typically, this group of players has enough knowledge to carry out these actions without consequences. However, on some occasions, stories stand out marked by real botches that usually do not end well. Surprisingly, the assembly of a Reddit user’s PC Gaming ended with a happy ending despite having an unexpected element: wood screws.
As the author of the post points out, a friend of his works in a computer workshop and came across a rather curious upgrade. According to reports, a user went to his workplace and pointed out that, after improving his PC, it was not performing as well as before. When he accessed its interior, he noticed that the user had used wood screws to mount the spacers for the processor on the motherboard. Obviously, this could have fatal consequences as it risked damaging the motherboard and other internal components of the computer.
Fortunately, he did not make any major mistakes
One of the aspects that surprised the technician was that the user chose to use wood screws instead of the ones that come included by default. However, he revealed that once he took a technical communication course in which he learned to “write and design instruction manuals,” a facet in which they were very clear with him: “expect people to be dumb, not smart.” Therefore, despite how bizarre it is to use wood screws to upgrade a PC Gaming, the technician pointed out that he was not surprised at all by the situation.
Luckily for the computer owner, his curious improvisation did not have much impact on the equipment. As the technician points out, thanks to a stroke of luck, “all components survived,” which is why he only needed “a BIOS update” to make it compatible with the CPU 5000 that he installed. In this way, this story starring a PC Gaming and wood screws had a surprising happy ending, but all this was because the user, even in his ignorance, did not damage any of the computer components.
