Taiwan is far ahead of its rivals, with both the United States and China unable to match its income levels thanks to chips

There is no sector as lucrative in the technological field as the chip and semiconductor industry. In the last quarter, more than 40,000 million euros in profits demonstrate the reach of companies like Samsung, Intel, and TSMC. And, according to the latest data harvested by the Taiwanese giant, a statement can be made without fear of being wrong: we are facing one of the most important companies in the world.

More than 12,000 million euros in profits show that the most decisive sector of technology depends on Taiwan and South Korea

As noted by the Reuters portal in a recent publication, the high demand for chips used in artificial intelligence applications has caused a 40% increase in the company’s third-quarter profits. Thus, with clients like Apple, NVIDIA, AMD, or Qualcomm, TSMC enjoys a privileged position in the sector. Therefore, it is expected that the company will report a net profit of almost 9,000 million euros in the third quarter of the year, thus surpassing the figures it achieved in the same period in 2023.

TSMC’s Expansion Leads to the United States

Thanks to its figures, the company has already comfortably exceeded market expectations. In addition, TSMC is heavily investing in the construction of new factories abroad, highlighting ones such as the megaplant in Arizona with an investment of around 60,000 million euros. In fact, in its latest earnings conference, TSMC adjusted its capital expenditure plans and cited a forecast close to 30,000 million euros, an amount that demonstrates that the company has no qualms about investing what it has achieved.

Thanks to the rise of AI, the demand for TSMC’s advanced chips has increased, consequently increasing both its revenue and its market value. In fact, in Taiwan, TSMC is referred to as the “sacred mountain that protects the country“, due to its crucial role in Taiwan’s export-oriented economy. And this, combined with the limited competition it faces in the sector due to factors like Intel’s decline, leaves the company in a very positive scenario for its interests.
