If you are up to date with the One Piece manga, you will know that the story of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew in the anime is very close to the events narrated in the pages of Shonem Jump, which causes their episodes to include an excess of filler that ruins many of the most exciting moments of Eichiro Oda’s work. That is the main reason why Toei Animation has decided to stop the broadcast of the series for half a year.
The announcement was a surprise, but at the same time, it was something that could happen sooner or later. In the middle of the Egghead storyline, the adventures of the mugiwara take a break until April 2025. With this extra time, the studio responsible for the anime should have plenty of time to present episodes with a faster pace and better animation, leaving aside all those filler scenes that are just there to fill time without adding much.
We won’t have a One Piece void
Currently immersed in a fierce war against the Navy, the break has been announced after the airing of episode 1122. Does this mean there will be no more One Piece for a season? Far from it, as “while we wait for a new broadcast, fans can continue to follow the weekly broadcast of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga,” as reported by Crunchyroll. This show is actually a remastered version of the Gyojin arc, with 21 episodes that will feature animation adapted to current techniques.
Fans can continue to follow the weekly broadcast of One Piece Log: Fish-Man Island Saga
Although not one of the most remembered stories by One Piece fans, we are talking about an important arc in the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy, to resume the mugiwara adventures after the time skip of the Marineford saga. The airing of this series will take place (in Japan) on October 27. These remastered episodes will be accompanied by a new opening and ending. Additionally, they report that the theme “We Go!” by Hiroshi Kitadina will feature a special guest collaboration. “A ‘new and exciting touch’ will also be added to the final theme BE:FIRST called ‘Sailing’.”
25 years of One Piece
Finally, it has been announced that on October 20, a special 25th anniversary episode will air, honoring the enduring legacy of One Piece with 30 minutes showing the Straw Hat crew reunion from the perspective of non-pirate characters; all this after the Summit War on the Sabaody Archipelago.
This story will be focused on a young girl who admires Nami, and therefore is willing to embark on her own adventure. If you are a fan of the One Piece universe, it is worth remembering that Netflix continues to work on the second season of the live-action of One Piece, while Toei Animation recently premiered the first episode of Dragon Ball DAIMA, the new anime of Goku and company.
