Spain wins The YouTubers’ Big Match 5 and prevails over France in an event marked by controversy

Published:

The YouTubers’ Big Match 5 has already ended and Spain has emerged victorious in a thrilling and controversial match, in which DJMaRiiO’s team managed to secure their expected victory. Although Amine’s team seemed to have all the cards to win initially, the Spanish players took to the field determined to win. And they did. However, the match was not without controversy due to the racist comments that almost led to its cancellation.

An anticipated rematch

Spain and France faced off at the Metropolitano with DJMaRiiO’s team starting with a lineup consisting of Cacho, Papi Gavi, Spursito, Folagor, Jonata, Guanyar, Peereira, Llobeti, Juanfe Saez, Robledo, and Mario. The first few minutes of the match were characterized not only by a good dose of booing from the Spanish fans but also by Spursito’s goal-scoring opportunity. On the other hand, the French team also made several attempts that failed to reach the Spanish goal, including a tackle on Jonata in the 9th minute. Peereira, Mario, and Llobeti were substituted in the 11th minute, kickstarting the cycle of substitutions that would define the match.

Spain’s first goal came in the 24th minute in a masterful play by Robledo. Shortly after, a member of the French bench threw a water bottle at a Spanish player. Tension began to rise and never dissipated during the match, even escalating at times. In the 40th minute, the French team, led by Alonz, had one of the clearest goal-scoring chances, going over the crossbar, and the same happened less than 1 minute later. Thus, the first half ended with France being slightly more aggressive than the Spanish team but less accurate in their shots on goal.

First-half match statistics

Following Morad’s performance, the second half began with a foul by Jonata right at the start, earning him the first yellow card of the match and a near-goal by SDM stopped by Dario Eme Hache. Shortly after, both SDM and Telmo received yellow cards for their mutual hostile behavior. But that was not all. In the 56th minute, the French players decided to leave for the dressing room after an uncomfortable moment when the crowd made racist comments towards some of them. Some of the Spanish team members, like Koko, were seen crying about it. The match eventually resumed, not without words from both captains to the Metropolitano crowd.

After a second half filled with clashes and fouls, DJMaRiiO scored the second goal from a penalty in response to a foul committed against Spursito in the opponent’s area. This happened in the 98th minute, giving Spain a victory that could have been much sweeter. Unfortunately, the incident with racist comments has tarnished what could have been a great day. Congratulations to the players, who have found in this rematch the opportunity to equalize the result in Paris.
