Millions and millions of players of all ages enjoy the benefits of Fortnite every day, both the battle-royale mode and its different game modes. In short, Epic Games has turned their production into a metaverse, a virtual meeting space where there is much to do… and also much to see. Perhaps that’s why the Government of Castilla-La Mancha is going to invest 265,000 euros to develop various experiences for the platform.
What does the investment consist of?
The initiative has been named ‘Promoción turística de Castilla-La Mancha a través del metaverso Fortnite’ and aims to create a series of gameplay elements in the battle-royale ecosystem representing places, characters, products, or other concepts related to the autonomous community. Additionally, “promotional elements will be created, such as coupons or gifts, within the framework of multimedia material for the promotion on social networks of the region as a tourist destination,” read in a press release.
“This project aims to encourage players to acquire a greater understanding of the cultural and heritage richness of Castilla-La Mancha in an entertaining and virtual way. In this way, this initiative is linked to Fortnite, known for its colorful visual style, dynamic gameplay capabilities, integration of live events, collaborations with other franchises, and constant updates that keep participants interested.”
The project is divided into two phases. The first will define the content and direction of experiences, games, characters, etc.; the second will carry out all of the above, including creating at least three mini-games and three representative characters of the autonomous community, as well as implementing interactive scenarios. In short, it seems they are going to create an island through the Creative mode that feels and looks very much like the region.
The Creative mode in Fortnite allows us to create content with great freedom on our own creative islands, bringing them to life and almost anything we can imagine. There are currently no deadlines for the deployment of this initiative awarded to the company Rebold Marketing, S.L.U. We hope to have some images soon.
