Intel has finally found the key to fixing its processors and the issues with the 13th and 14th Gen are about to be a thing of the past.

A few months ago, the bombshell exploded when the responsible for a dinosaur MMO didn’t hold back and pointed the finger at Intel for the poor performance of their processors. Since then, the company has been involved in several controversies related to the wrong direction of the company and, as a result, has been in the headlines for some dark news. However, after months of investigation, it seems that Intel has finally found the real cause of the failures in their top chips.

Bad news continue for Intel and their market share in graphics cards compared to NVIDIA and AMD is the proof

As indicated by PC Gamer in a recent publication, Intel has identified the reasons for the stability issues in their 13th and 14th Gen chips. Therefore, they are rolling out a new update, as the previous microcode patch (0x129) released in August only addressed some of the symptoms. Thus, the American company has provided all the details regarding the new microcode 0x12B that directly addresses the voltage spikes that occur during idle periods or light activity.

The issue is related to AI

As mentioned in the original news, the problem is related to a specific circuit within the processor’s AI core, which is why both the P-Cores and E-cores are affected. The main issue is a change in the minimum voltage that causes voltage spikes, demanding more power from the processor to remain stable, a situation that accelerates its degradation. Therefore, Intel identified several scenarios that trigger this change, mentioning situations such as motherboards exceeding power recommendations or high voltage requests during periods of high frequency.

Intel itself ensures that the new microcode 0x12B is designed to fix all scenarios, including the ones mentioned above and the most problematic one: high voltage requests by Microcode and BIOS code during idle or light activity. Intel is already working on providing its partners with the necessary BIOS updates and is confident that motherboard manufacturers will release them as soon as possible. And, based on their tests, they believe there won’t be any performance degradation once the update is installed.
